Head of Commercial Finance - Retail/eCommerce

Due to the continued expansion of the business across Retail and E-Commerce channels, domestically across Europe, our client is looking to recruit a high calibre Head of Commercial Finance/FP&A.

Reporting directly to the MD, with 2 direct reports this is a newly created role due to the demands of expansion. The role will provide crucial insight and support to key strategic decision making right at the top of the business, and is a fantastic opportunity to join a truly iconic business at memorable time, for someone with the right mindset.

Responsibilities:

  • Lead co-ordination and delivery of key planning tool - cash flow forecast - with detailed commentary and variance analysis.
  • Lead and co-ordinate development of business plans for key growth areas, with feasibility and risk appraisal.
  • Partake in daily communications between 3 'Heads of' and 2 Directors on general management issues.
  • Take over and manage delivery of regular monthly reporting around key business KPI's on resource, property, fulfillment, driving efficiency.
  • Leading improvement and shaping of current KPI's methodology.
  • Business Partner and support Director of Commercial and Marketing, and Director of Operations.
  • Interface between Operational Finance and Commercial side of business.
  • Being the 'voice of finance' on Big Data projects - advocating for financial reporting but also where key e-commerce.
  • Produce regular business updates with written recommendations
  • Ad-hoc analysis with written recommendations
  • Process improvements
  • Assistance on year-end account production
  • Lead, coach and develop team of 2.

Skills/Attributes:

  • Expert financial modeler - both technically and also with regards business partnering - taking information from non-financial individuals and creating robust financial models.
  • Entrepreneurial - expectation that the individual will uncover opportunity for the business across margin, revenue and other business efficiencies.
  • Independent - must develop own sense of what to look at where, how to look at it, and what consequent options are.
  • High quality, reliable output in time pressured scenarios - key decisions about investment and cash will be made based up on analysis.
  • Excellent 'radar' and able to develop strong relationships outside of the finance team quickly.
  • Add value - improve current workflows and processes.
  • Strategic but with an eye and experience for detail.
  • Language skills a benefit.
  • Tax optimization & Private Equity background a benefit.
  • Good understanding of macro and micro economic factors.
  • Exposure to Big Data projects and understanding of related language and concepts of benefit.
