Finance Officer - TV/Film - New York

We are looking for a seasoned Finance professional for a growing photographic agency & production company representing artists working in the fashion, editorial and advertising sector. This role is based in New York reporting into the team based in London.

As Financial Controller you will be responsible for the day to day running of the finance function on a sole role basis. We are looking for a candidate ideally with industry experience and someone who is happy to get stuck in!

Key responsibilities:

  • Reconciliation of projects with producers and agents in NY

  • Production of monthly artist statement of their invoices

  • Queries from artists regarding billing, payments due, taxation and other. Deal with artists accountants with their permission

  • Raising self-billing invoices(SBI) for artists

  • Payments to artists as funds are received from client

  • Raising sales invoices and ensuring payments as per project contract, billing correct legal entities with appropriate details (PO, project references), invoices sent to finance department via correct portal.

  • Credit control

  • All purchase ledger - inputting data, dealing with suppliers request for payments, and reconciling supplier accounts, inputting payments for approval of the senior FC

  • Staff expenses processing

  • Bank reconciliation for USD account

  • Inter company account transactions and liaising with London team on reconciliations

  • Assisting the Senior FC with preparation of month end and quarterly management accounts

  • Assisting the Senior FC with year-end accounts preparation

  • Preparing annual tax forms- 1099's and liaising with external accountants based in NY

  • Credit card reconciliations for two credit cards

  • Processing crew payroll requirements via an external payroll company

Key skills:

  • Finance degree/equivalent or qualified by experience

  • Excellent numeracy and attention to detail

  • Media/Creative industry experience is essential

  • Strong Excel and IT skills

  • Good knowledge of multi-currency

  • Excellent communication skills toward effective collaboration and client services

  • Ability to work independently and efficiently in a sole role with external support and guidance from the Senior London FC
