A historic London gallery are seeking a 3 month FTC Research Manager with the possibility of extension as required, working full time hours of 35 hours per week or part time hours to suit the successful candidate.

In this role you will have sole responsibility for fundraising research and will implement a prospect research strategy principally to help deliver Development's fundraising targets.

The role works closely with development heads, helping to shape, support and enhance their fundraising efforts. The role oversees three major strands of research: prospect research, briefing notes and profiles, and due diligence. Your work will aim to identify where income will come from - to increase their likelihood of success through intelligence gathering, and by ensuring staff are well briefed - and helps to shield the Gallery from financial and reputational harm through the production of due diligence on major gift and sponsorship proposals.

Salary - £37,662 pro rata

Contract - January 2023-March 2023

Location- Central London, flexibility on office days & hours

Key Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for creating and implementing a prospect research strategy to support long-term multi-million-pound fundraising from domestic and international funding sources.

  • Accountable for the Development department having an adequate pipeline of prospects to support its income generating goals.

  • Responsible for identifying companies who may be a fit with the Gallery exhibition programme, bringing these to the attention of the Corporate team.

  • Responsible for ensuring information provided to Development staff, senior Gallery staff, trustees and committee members is well-written, succinct, and pertinent to their needs.

  • Accountable for research tools and subscriptions, ensuring they are within budget and make the most effective use of resources.

  • Carry out risk assessments on prospective supporters or sponsors of the Gallery; presenting findings on high profile or contentious gifts to the Gallery's Ethical Fundraising Committee for their review.

  • Analyse and disseminate information about networks of donors, prospects, and peer supporters.

  • Establish and maintain research processes and procedures on the CRM system and OneDrive data-stores.

  • Ensure that information relating to individuals held by the Development team (both paper and electronic form) is recorded in accordance with General Data Protection Regulation.

  • Keep the Development team informed about developments within the charity and arts sectors, including competitor activity.

  • Contribute to and promote Gallery measures to ensure equality of opportunity and to encourage diversity.

  • Participate in, and produce research to support, strategic discussions regarding fundraising priorities with the Director of Development and team Heads

  • Experience as a fundraising researcher - this is essential

  • knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word and Excel).

  • Experience using a fundraising or CRM database.

  • Knowledge of major gift fundraising sector and researching high-net-worth prospects.

  • Knowledge of online news databases (such as Factiva) and relevant fundraising research database(s).

  • Knowledge of data protection regulations around research.
