Handle are working with a multiple award-winning producer of investment conferences for Africa's energy sector. Best known for the Africa Energy Forum, the longest running Forum for decision makers in Africa's power sector

They are looking for a producer to join their events team, responsible for the planning and implementation of exceptional online and in person events.

This role involves travelling, recent event locations include Nairobi, Barcelona, Miami, Cape Town, Brussels, Washington, Lome and Arusha.

Within the events portfolio is a new project it will empower young people in the energy sector by developing the network, connections, knowledge, and training needed to become employed and take on the task of electrifying the continent, it will also open doors for young entrepreneurs for whom electricity is an inhibitor of their business to thrive with their business plans. YES! will do this through a combination of live events and online offerings through the Beyond Privilege networking platform, which was launched in June 2023 and currently has over 13,000 members.

Key responsibilities

  • Conduct in-depth market and industry research over the phone and in person to develop strong topical and commercially successful event agendas. Investigate and generate new and creative topic and format ideas in alignment with business goals.

  • Develop strong engaging relationships with key stakeholders, shareholders, advisors, associations and senior government representatives including Ministers.

  • Work with the, Group Director/CEO to produce a strong strategy for future direction of the events.

  • Keep the news feed regularly updated with content on the Beyond Privilege platform.

  • Manage long term supporters as well as connect with and build relationships with new clients, speakers and media partners.

  • Work closely with marketing team to help produce promotional materials for the event programmes.

  • Work with and direct the sponsorship team and delegate sales team to ensure commercial targets are met.

You

  • Previous experience producing high quality conferences with demonstrable success in growing both the delegate and sponsorship revenue through the production of commercial programmes is a must.

  • Enthusiastic & confident with a creative and imaginative approach to production,

  • Ability to think outside of the traditional conference realm to produce exciting events which appeal to the youth and clients alike.

  • Proven ability for strategic thinking and forward planning.

  • Must be an excellent team player.

  • Proactive, results driven, and highly motivated.

  • Resilient, motivated and a starter/finisher, with excellent project management and delivery skills.

  • Easily adaptable to changing markets & situations - flexibility to adapt production strategy to a startup portfolio as it adapts to learnings and at times changes direction whilst growing is a must.

  • Positive attitude and passion for delivering events to the best standard possible.

  • Excellent communicator - great verbal and written communications skills that can translate into trusting long term client relationships.

  • Must be able to travel for events when needed.

  • French speaking is desirable but not essential.

  • An interest in Africa's energy and infrastructure sector and youth employment, and a strong willingness to learn.
