A global promotional consultancy are looking for a Business Development Manager. You will leverage existing relationships established over 20 years, and seek to gain access to their US parent companies. You will join a sales team that already work with US based clients such as Amazon, Budweiser, Corona Beer and Klarna.
They help brands and agencies plan, implement and verify legally compliant promotions. They help bridge the gap between ideas and a well run execution. Their goal is to help protect clients budget and safeguard their reputation.
Salary: £45,000-£52,000 DOE
Location: Pinner. 3 days in the office, 2 days at home
Key Responsibilities:
- Devise and implement a comprehensive sales strategy geared towards the US market using existing clients, UK based clients of US entities and new prospects.
- Work with their in-house Marketing team to ensure appropriate materials and communication are in place.
- Deliver consistently against personal and team gross margin sales targets.
- Manage a portfolio of 40-60 clients made up of both agencies (advertising, PR, digital) and brands / promoters to meet Gross Margin targets.
- Maximise revenue potential from the portfolio through a regular, planned, and close ongoing contact with all levels of client contacts (marketing and legal). Gain a good understanding of their business needs creating a strong mutual working relationship. Aim is to become their trusted advisor and the go-to person for all aspects of promotional consultancy.
- Use strong consultative selling skills to add value to a basic client brief - upsell and cross-sell additional services.
- 40% of time seeking referrals from their existing clients in the US, UK and Europe
- 30% supporting and following up on our marketing campaigns to secure new opportunities.
- 30% self-motivated new business development thorough email and calling campaigns.
Key Skills:
- Understanding of the US market and a proven track record of sales success in the US. This role would be ideal for a US citizen currently based in the UK. Longer term, the role may be based in the States.
- Proven new business planning skills including building and maintaining a new business pipeline.
- Adept and proven ability in selling intangible solutions, making the complex appear simple and be comfortable selling digital and data products.
- Strong presentation skills, including group presentations are a key part of the job.
- Have direct experience in a consultative sale focused role ideally in a media/ marketing / management consultancy environment.
- Interested in promotions and marketing.
- Able to assimilate knowledge quickly and then to apply it to appropriate situations.
- Commercially aware - able to construct well thought through business proposal documents and detailed project plans.
- Strong and determined with a proven ability of hitting targets and objectives.
- Capable of multi-tasking, organising, and prioritising own workload and coordinating with others within the team, e.g., Project Managers and Legal.
- Able to spot new business opportunities and upsell where no one else has seen it.
- Excellent negotiator - able to add value to a discussion or a project and charge accordingly.
