Are you looking for your next senior role in the world of Publishing? Handle are very pleased to be working with a leading classical music agency. They're seeking a well-connected and experienced business and creative executive to lead the management of their new publishing arm. As the Head of Music Publishing, you will oversee the management of composers, identify and sign new talent, provide creative services and support to enhance relationships and long-term income. This is a key role in their innovative and composer-centric approach to management and publishing.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage current and new composers, fostering relationships and securing publishing and management deals.

  • Provide creative services and support to composers, optimising their careers and generating income.

  • Procure commissions and co-commissions for Birdsong composers, collaborating with internal and external partners.

  • Act as an advisory strategist for managed composers, offering guidance and support.

  • Facilitate writing and co-writing sessions with in-house and third-party writers, leveraging relationships with artists, composers, and labels.

  • Identify and develop commercial projects in addition to traditional contemporary classical music commissions.

  • Stay informed about trends in contemporary classical music publishing

  • Maintain a strong network in the industry.

  • Lead and collaborate with the publishing to maintain a productive work environment.

  • Contribute to marketing and branding efforts of the business.

  • Embrace innovative business practices and adapt to digital transformation.

The ideal candidate will have:

  • Significant experience in music publishing/creative leadership experience in contemporary classical music.

  • Active involvement in the contemporary and commercial classical music world.

  • Proven ability to manage composers while benefiting the company.

  • Collaborative mindset and ability to work across divisions within the organisation.

  • Passion for developing composers and their projects to create exceptional music.

  • Strong leadership skills.

  • Professionalism to work with artists, management, and legal counsel.

  • Understanding of royalty, copyrights, and sync law in addition to broader business acumen.

  • Effective reporting skills to communicate business developments to senior management.

  • Hands-on approach with leadership and mentoring capabilities.

  • Well-established business and creative relationships in the music industry.

  • Keen understanding of collaboration in domestic and international music markets.

  • Clear and concise communication to ensure understanding of goals and plans.

  • Willingness to travel internationally for business development.

  • Genuine passion for contemporary classical music and excitement for driving ambitious growth strategies.
