Financial Controller - Real Estate & Film/TV
Rapidly expanding Film & TV Studio are looking for an experience ACA, ACCA or CIMA qualified Financial Controller with strong Real Estate experience who has the potential to progress to CFO and will be responsible for the financial controls, reporting as well as the budgeting and financial planning activities of the company, and will support the CFO, CEO and other senior management as appropriate.
The hire of the financial controller is envisaged as the start of a restructuring of the finance function to better suit the size and maturity of the organisation.
- The financial controller will be one of the architects of the structure of the go forward finance function and will be looked on to develop a high performing and healthy team environment.
- There is a large real estate component to studio operations, which will become more pronounced as the Studio pursues its strategy of expansion.
- Must have strong real estate expertise, preferably from an operational business that has a large real estate component.
- Have a "hands-on" approach to the business with the ability to deliver day to day practical process and business improvements to maximise revenue generation and minimise operating costs.
- Provide specific financial analyses to support both operational and commercial strategic decisions as well as defining and monitoring the key measures to evaluate and implement those strategies. Given the operational nature of the business the role will be based full time at Park Royal.
- The Financial Controller will be required to present financial information at board meetings and have the experience and confidence to discuss financial matters at board level.
Skills, qualifications and experience:
- Proven experience as a financial controller with the appropriate technical accounting qualifications (e.g. ACA/ACCA/CIMA)
- Strong real estate expertise, preferably from an operational business that has a large real estate component.
- Commercial focus - identifying and implementing revenue generating and cost reduction opportunities and initiatives
- Ability to represent externally and form long-term partnerships with relevant organisations and individuals
- Ability to understand the business behind the numbers and provide valuable business insights
- Ability to interpret and communicate financial information clearly to individuals at different levels in the organisation (i.e. from board members to junior members of staff)
- Experience managing others and running a department
- Extensive experience using financial accounting packages
- Expert with financial models
- Extensive experience in finance and accounting, including preparation of annual financial statements and the implementation of financial controls
- Some experience from the film industry or the creative/media industry would be advantageous
