About Restore The Music (RTM)

RTM believes music is a powerful tool for change as it unlocks potential. It is a grant-giving music charity that invests in the next generation, reaching them by providing vital funding to school music departments in some of the most deprived areas in the UK. Founded in 2013 by Polly Stepan Moore and Gordon Singer, RTM provides the state schools it identifies as most underserved with grants of up to £20,000 to build a diverse and comprehensive music provision to young people.

Originally a London-centric grant programme, RTM became a registered charity (number 1172363) in 2017. The Restore the Music Capital Grant Programme is open to applicants in London, Birmingham, Manchester and Newcastle. Since inception 11 years ago, RTM has awarded £2.6 million across nearly 150 state schools, giving vital access to over 30,000 musical instruments and resources to over 110k children aged 4-18. RTM creates events, such as the annual Battle Of The Bands, Steinway masterclass and RTM music teacher Celebration dinners, to showcase, celebrate and give opportunities to the young musicians and RTM grantee schools. RTM Grants are only awarded to state primary and secondary schools with above average Free School Meal % (average RTM Grantee 2024 FSM 57%).

RTM Supporters and donors include: Sony Music’s UK Social Justice Fund, Sony Classical, Warner Music, Universal Music, Gibson, Morgan Lovell, Save the Music, Big Give, Story of Christmas, Blavatnik Family Foundation, The Childhood Trust, Steinway & Sons, Bowers & Wilkins, Casio, Fishmonger’s Livery Company, Taittinger, Soundstart Foundation, Singer Family Charitable Foundation and The Rayne Trust. Ambassadors include: Alexis Ffrench (pianist and composer), Gary Powell (The Libertines, Dirty Pretty Things), Andrew Levy (The Brand New Heavies), Kara Mukerjee (VP, Warner Music Group), Mike Dolbear (drummer and founder of Young Drummer of the Year), Riopy (pianist and composer).

About Handle Recruitment

We opened the doors in 1978 and built our reputation in the music industry. We quickly realised that a great brand is not always a household name. A great brand is something people connect with, not just a place they work. Somewhere that helps them become better at what they do. It could be a record label, it could be in media, it could be a tech start-up.
