This week we celebrate Breadwinners, a grassroots charity providing employment and training for refugees and young people seeking asylum.
In 2015, Marika Wilson and John Lister came up with the idea for breadwinners, launching as a charity in the next year. Since then Breadwinners has gone from strength to strength.
Originally helping young people set up their own fresh bread bike delivery service, to developing its E-commerce presence, increasing their reach into Brighton, and launching their Wholesale Service, all with the help of the participants of their programmes
Breadwinners have supported 500+ people through their programmes, which include:
Risers, which provides support for young asylum seekers through work experience as market stall assistants.
Breadwinners, supporting refugees with newly received status in finding their first jobs in the UK.
Proofers, where graduates of the previous programme receive further training in online customer service and IT skills.
